Overview
Join us for 5 days of fun in the sun learning the basics of outdoor guiding and river running. This course is designed for ages 16-18 and is set up to lead into job and internships opportunities as an outdoor professional in Northern New Mexico.
Over 5 days students will be instructed in river running techniques, group dynamics, team building, trip planning, customer experience and interactions, local history, and overall outdoor and river safety. Courses are led by experienced, ACA certified professionals. As this is an introduction to river running, all our time in the field will occur on the more mellow stretches of the Rio Grande and Rio Chama.
The principal goal of this program is to encourage our young northern New Mexicans to engage in the rapidly growing outdoor recreation economy and hopefully prepare graduates for employment or internships with local outdoor businesses, including but not limited to rafting with Far Flung Adventures.
Course hours will be from 8am-5pm each day. Daily lunch is included for students.
