When we opened our doors in 1976, Far Flung Adventures stood out amongst the ragtag group of early rafting companies for its ambition and professionalism, and that forward-looking view on safety, outdoor recreation, education and environmentalism has made us who we are today. What started as a two-man enterprise in a lonely ghost-town in far West Texas soon found itself pioneering western whitewater on rivers such as the Salt River, the Arkansas, and the Rio Grande—while even further flung we explored the mighty Usumacinta in southern Mexico and Guatemala and the wilds of the Arctic Circle in Alaska. A hand painted wooden sign proudly (if not cheekily) hung above our ghost-town office that read “World Headquarters”.
Now into our second generation of ownership, we are based out of Taos, NM and continue to offer and explore rivers around the southwest and the world. We proudly exemplify our tradition of professionalism, environmentalism and safety while offering a long list of great experiences and always keeping an eye downstream for the next great adventure
Our legacy of providing high-quality and safe experiences has allowed us to introduce countless people to the joys of floating, camping, and exploring since those two-boat days of 1976. Whether you are a first-time rafter, a member of our “frequent floater” club, or a full-blown part of our Far Flung Family we hope our website will whet your appetite for our dozens of trips on some of the world’s most unique river canyons and exotic destinations.
We hope that you will join us on a river this year. We’re ready to go when you are!
We would love to hear from you!
We are happy to answer any questions that you may have. No question is too big or too small!
