- Sidehikes
Overview
One of America’s most iconic rivers, the Green is a waterway steeped in geologic wonder and human history. After draining a large swath of the northern rockies, the Green carves its way through a series of incredible canyons as it works its way deeper into the Colorado Plateau and closer to its final berth as it joins the mighty Colorado River. The Labyrinth section is lauded as one of the premier float trips of the west, providing visitors days of beautiful desert scenery, amazing geology, side hikes, great campsites and starry night skies. The area is rich in human history: Side canyons and high bluffs bear the marks of ancient inhabitants and the vestiges of western expansion as well as both era’s struggles to survive in the uncompromising desert.
One can expect fun and leisurely days on the Labyrinth section with time to explore as we wend our our way downstream through geologic time and into deeper and higher canyons. This trip is a fantastic relaxing get away for families, groups and people of all ages and abilities. A variety of crafts are available for your trip, choose between rafts, kayaks, SUPs and Canoes (or a mix of all!).

Itinerary
Arrival:
We recommend arriving in Moab, Ut the day before we meet for our trip.
Day 1: We will meet in Moab, organize guests personal gear, and take the 45 minute drive to our starting point just outside of Green River, Ut. put in. After rigging and having a group safety orientation we will launch on the beautiful Green River! Day one will take us through some rural farmland, allow us a visit to Crystal Geyser, and provide wide open views as we wend our way through the Little Green River Valley.
Day 2-4: Enjoy beautiful desert sunrises and great riverside meals. Days will be spent making our way leisurely downstream, with possible stops for side-hikes and exploring at Trin-Alcove, the River Register, Bowknot Bend, and Hey Joe Canyon.
Day 5: After a final beautiful morning on the Green River we will reach our takeout at Mineral Bottom in the early afternoon. After the guides load up all the gear we will enjoy a scenic drive back to Moab through the backroads of the Canyonlands area! The switchbacks of the Mineral Bottom road is certainly a picture worthy drive and one you won’t forget!
Camp Scene/Gear
Get ready to pitch a tent, sling a hammock, throw down a pad, and relax! Every day we will prepare and serve you a delicious riverside lunch, not limited to, but often including an array of home-roasted sandwich meats and homemade dips and salsas (see some of our recipes here). In addition, our camp dinners and breakfasts are a classic staple of the Far Flung experience, as 40 years in business has not only taught us the principles of reading white-water…but also of cooking and camp ambiance!
