With two different route options, this trip is an intermediate or advanced intermediate, fun and challenging trail ride descending from the alpine country between Taos and Angel Fire down to the high desert above the Rio Grande Gorge.

Our one-day South Boundary trips will begin by meeting at 8:30 at our office. Once we are all loaded up and ready we will then take the 45 minute shuttle to the beautiful alpine meadows of Garcia Park. From there we will hit the trails and make our way down to El Nogal trailhead where our shuttle vehicle will return us to our office and your vehicles.

Our intermediate trail will turn at Ojitos Canyon and take the fun and easier bypass of the steep and rocky “El Nogal” section. Those who qualify and desire to take the more advanced route will continue on the “El Nogal” portion of the trail.

The trip will vary in length depending on which trail your group takes. The intermediate route is 18 miles and the advanced route is 13 miles.

Lunch, shuttle and guides are included on our one-day trips while meals, shuttle, guides, and all camping equipment is included on our camping trips. Bikes may be rented for an additional fee.

Enjoy real quality time in the high country with two-days in the beautiful Sangre De Cristo Mountains outside of Taos, New Mexico! Your trip will begin by meeting at 9:00am at our office in Taos, where we will outfit you with any camping gear you need and your bike and gear if you have rented one from us. From there we will take a scenic 1 hr drive to our starting place in the mountains outside Angel Fire, NM and the Enchanted Circle.

Your ride will start with a steep uphill climb on FR-76 for several miles until joining the single track and heading up and over the Osha Mountain. As you descend from Osha Mountain you will enjoy the famous “Heaven on Earth” section – fun, flows single track as you descend down into Garcia Park. For those who would like to get a few more miles in, there are many side trails that can be taken!

In the meadows of Garcia Park you will rejoin with our van and your gear for a beautiful night spent under the New Mexico stars. Prepare yourself for great camp cooking, fireside relaxation and some well deserved rest after your day of riding.

Day 2 will allow for two different route options towards the end of the day, the “El Nogal” portion allowing advanced riders the chance to ride exposed and steep rocky switchbacks while the Ojitos Canyon descent offers riders a fun intermediate trail that also adds 5 more miles to the trip.

The total milage of the trip depends on additional trails ridden and what trail is ridden at the end. The trip will be around 21-27 miles of high altitude riding done over two days. Guests should qualify as at least casual mountain bikers who ride sometimes and are prepared for a the rigors of mountain biking on a mostly “blue” rated trail with spots of “black” riding.

All food, transport and tents are included. Pads, sleeping bags and cots are available for and additional $12/day and mountain bikes are available for additional $30.
