Participants

We welcome first-time rafters 4 years of age and older. You should be in normal good health. Most groups go in paddle boats, but oar-powered rafts may be requested.

Craft

Most groups go in a paddle boat, but for those who do not wish or are unable to, the guides may also do the navigating in oar-powered rafts. You may also request an inflatable kayak if you are looking to amp up the adventure level.

Cost

Adult: $75.00

Child (5-11): $60.00

Toddler (3-4): $46.00

Deposit Required, remainder to be charged 24hrs prior to trip.

Cancellation Policy

Reservation cancellation more than 2 weeks before trip date receives a refund minus 10% of trip cost. Less than two weeks before trip date forfeits deposit. A cancellation within 24hrs or a “no-show” on the day of the trip will result in full-payment and forfeit any refund.

Overview

This Rio Grande rafting trip traverses the calm oxbows of the Orilla Verde National Recreation Area and is the most popular float section in New Mexico. The wonderful open canyon allows scenic views of towering basalt cliffs, high desert eco systems and wildlife viewing, a lush riverside habitat, Class II rapids, and plenty of opportunities for swimming and fun. This is a perfect trip for families with young children or groups who are looking for a beautiful, relaxing and fun float

Inflatable Kayaking:

For those looking to take things a notch up to a slightly more active level the Scenic Float is a great trip for inflatable kayaking! Paddle the whole time or take turns with other members of your party that are in a raft.

Itinerary

Guests will meet at 8:15am or 12:15pm at our Far Flung Riverside location. Several Class II rapids occur throughout the outing, in between calm stretches perfect for floating and swimming. We will float through the village of Pilar, New Mexico where we will observe a quiet zone to minimize the impact of our passage through this historic, small New Mexico community.
