We welcome beginners and experts on this full day paddleboard float. The safe and easy Class I-II rapids of this stretch will take on new meaning as you navigate your way through them on your own SUP. Take in the views as you float through the large, open canyon, allowing scenic views of towering basalt cliffs, high desert ecosystems, and a lush riverside habitat. As opposed to the half-day SUP trip, this full day alternative will allow you to really hone your skills through an additional 3 rapids and include a great riverside lunch spread.
We meet at Pilar Cafe, located 16 miles south of Taos, New Mexico, on State Highway 68-mile marker 28), at 8:30 A.M. or 12:30 P.M. After meeting, we will load up in our van and head to our put-in, located several miles up the river. We will provide you will all necessary safety equipment as well as instructions on how to correctly maneuver your paddleboard.
From there, it will be a relaxing float through the meanders and splashes of the Orilla Verde section, known for its tranquility, wildlife viewing, and birding opportunities. The large, open canyon allows scenic views of the towering basalt cliffs, high desert ecosystems, and a lush riverside habitat.
