The life of the Rio Grande has been drastically altered over the past one hundred years…the river has been dammed, diverted, channeled, and, in some stretches, gone completely dry. The river's needs have been sorely neglected, which has in turn had a significant impact on the lives of the fish, birds, and other creatures that rely on the river and the bosque for habitat.

The life of the river is inextricably linked to our own survival, as well. The river has given us much; it is what has sustained us in this desert. The life of the river now hangs in the balance of competing water needs.

RIO GRANDE RESTORATION is a non-profit river advocacy organization working to assure that the Rio Grande will again flow as the Great River, with a restored ecosystem.

We speak as a voice for the river in meetings and forums with state, local, and federal officials, representing the river's needs in the decision making process.

We are committed to a collaborative process of seeking solutions for the river, which includes the difficult task of turning adversaries into allies.

We offer public education programs about the river for schools, churches, and community organizations.

We bring the river to people and take people to the river, through slide show presentations and river rides.

Our program work extends from the Closed Basin in the Colorado-New Mexico border to the "Forgotten River", south of El Paso, Texas. We have an office in Albuquerque, with a focus on the Middle Rio Grande Valley.

And, we need your help.

The future life of the Rio Grande will be determined by not just one voice or a few voices, but by many voices.

Please support the efforts of Rio Grande Restoration.

Become a voice for the river.
