“Putting people and rivers together since 1976”
Far Flung Adventures has been safely outfitting family and group river trips for over 40 years. We have run commercial adventures on dozens of rivers around the country and the world. With that said, these days we like to concentrate our work here in New Mexico, because this is the land and the people we care most about.

NM Wild loves Far Flung Adventures!
I had the pleasure of joining a group of New Mexico Wilderness Alliance supporters on a raft trip through the Middle Box of the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. What a fantastic place! Many bighorn sheep were spotted right on the shore, a golden eagle nest was pointed out to us by the guides, and we learned a lot about the natural history of the landscape we passed through. The water was high, but the guides took us through the rapids flawlessly. Lunch was fresh and abundant. NM Wild will definitely be back!
NM Wild Middle Box (La Junta) Rafting Adventure
I am a seasoned river runner who joined this trip as a friend and member of NM Wild. The trip definitely didn’t disappoint! The guides were knowledgeable, the scenery spectacular and the solitude unmatched. The rapids were appropriate for the skills of most of the group, and the many bighorn sheep on the shore at various points along the route a highlight. I would strongly recommend Far Flung Adventures to anyone in or near Taos who wants to truly experience the outdoors and the upper Rio Grande. Far Flung Adventures is clearly well seasoned in custom designing trips to the levels and interests of their clients, and know how to provide a top quality experience. Very highly recommended!
I keep coming back…
Got introduced to ww rafting in 1985. I’ve been hooked ever since. Far Flung Adventures always takes great care of me and my guests. I take a different group with me every year to celebrate my birthday and NO ONE has been disappointed yet!
Dinner float trip with the family
Great experience! Family of six with ages 6-13 kids, we enjoyed a great guided float with Hanko. After a couple of hours, we landed at a campsite area for a fully prepared surf and turf dinner made by Chef Will with a roaring campfire. Food was delicious. We left happy and full! A memorable trip of a lifetime for our family. We will definitely come back to Far Flung and Hank and Will.
An amazingly perfect day!
Our entire Far Flung experience was perfect. It was easy to make reservations and everything went in time. We did a scenic float with 4 adults and 3 children; everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Our guide Molly was fabulous. She was informative and knowledgeable and we knew we were in good hands. I strongly recommend this outfitter to anyone, especially families. It was a treat. I would rate this excellent plus!
Blast on Rio Grande Taos Box
Far Flung is fantastic, River Guides Wild Bill and Hanko make the trip even better than just a killer raft trip. We will always use this company and request these two wonderful folks to take us safely and with the optimum rush.
Funyaks are the best!
6 of us took a Funyaks trip down the Rio Grande river with Christine and Will. We had such fun, and they were remarkable guides! The photos were great and lunch was oh so good! Don’t miss out on this great trip while you are in Taos, NM!
Wonderful first whitewater trip!
I took my first ever whitewater rafting trip on the Rio Chama and it was wonderful from start to finish. Andrea, our guide, was superb at piloting us through the soft water up top before lunch and the real white water after lunch. Her instructions were direct, clear, and precise. She also knew the flora, fauna, and geology of the area. She also has a quiet and fun sense of humor. The lunch provided was plentiful and delicious. What a trip! Bravo Andrea! Bravo Far Flung!
Best Day on a River Ever!
Rafting the Taos Box on the Rio Grande Gorge was incredible. The scenery was simply breathtaking and we saw a family of geese, a muskrat, and mountain sheep. The river was flowing at 2100 cfs, the highest it has been at this time of year in ten years. We had many class 3 and a couple class 4 rapids. Andrea our guide did a remarkable job and we all stayed in the raft despite one 15 ft drop. The lunch that was provided included something for everyone. It was delicious. It is an experience worth repeating.
